Preparing for the ride...

Proof that I passed
This blog (my first) was created to share an upcoming adventure/vacation that involves buying and riding a Can-Am Motorcycle around the western US... I started by taking a class for driving 3-wheel bikes because I hadn't had a motorcycle in 25 years... I passed the class, and although I already had a motorcycle drivers licenses this added the ability to get a 10% discount on my insurance...
Having a blast at the class

That's me on the right with the bike I used
I am traveling to Salt Lake City on business so I decided to buy the bike there and then launch my trip after the business meetings were over. Originally I was going to try to rent or lease a bike but I found a good deal on a 2017 model with very low milage (50 miles)... The pic below is a picture of the bike I bought, which I haven't seen in person yet... The dealer I picked was High Adventure Power Sports and the sales manager (Drew) really helped me out... I thought my situation was a unique one but he explain that people like me show up all the time to do what I am doing...
Of course then you have to buy all the other stuff you need like a helmet, jacket (3 layer), and warm gloves. I also needed a mount for my iPhone and Radar Detector, bluetooth for the bike and helmet, and various odds and ends needed to carry my stuff while on the trip...

It took many hours on Google Maps and various hotel sites to get the route worked out, but I think I have a good plan... I also have several friends and family between Utah and Tennessee that I plan to visit while on my way home... So far the states I plan to be in are Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Colorado...  I think this is going to be fun...
